Born out of a passion for 90’s F1, we are proud to have started Ignition GP in 2021 with the simple aim of getting these wonderful Grand Prix cars back on track where they belong in an environment that is respectful to the cars and their histories but also professional and safe.
Throughout the pandemic when we were all deprived of motorsport, it became clear to us that whilst we were missing the cars and the competition, we were also missing the people, banter and camaraderie that goes hand in hand with motorsport.
Over the last few years we were frustrated that if you owned one of these wonderful cars, there were very few opportunities to run them in safe, professional and fun environments so we decided to put that right.
Our focus over the coming years is developing a demonstration series around Europe for Grand Prix cars from 1989-1997 with occasional other special guests from the V10 era.
We set up Ignition GP as there simply wasn’t anything around that fitted this remit for these cars and their owners. There is an annual fee to become an Ignition GP member, view membership information below.
Jonathan is a professional racing driver, coach and more recently has established Jonathan Kennard Iconic Automobiles to bring a fresh approach to racing car purchase or sales.
Jonathan has driven a huge array of some of the worlds most iconic racing cars, has been a test driver for the Williams Formula One Team and raced at the Le Mans 24hrs, FIA GT1 for Lamborghini and been a race winner in the famous British Formula Three Championship.
He has championship titles under his belt in Formula Palmer Audi and accrued many race wins over the years. 2020 will be his 22nd year in racing.
More recently, Jonathan has raced in the Masters Endurance Legends for Le Mans cars between 1995-2012, Historic F1 and the Spa 6hrs in a Jaguar E-Type, finishing second in 2018.
Jonathan also won both races from pole position at this year’s Silverstone Classic in a Pescarolo Judd LMP1.
In 2020 Jonathan finished 11th in LMP2 at the Le Mans 24hrs racing for IDEC Sport.
Like Jonathan, Adam grew up around motorsport from year dot, family holidays were at race tracks all across Europe and coincidentally his father worked with Jonathan as a race engineer in Formula Three.
In 2010 this passion for cars took him on a journey pioneering a new breed of members club and SCD is now the leading community of supercar owners in Europe with over 1,000 members.
